So you want to generate buzz for an event? Make a killer video. The Utah state fair made some of the best state fair ads I have ever seen.

Awesome.

windoze 7 in 2010?

Rumor has it that microsoft confirmed that the vista replacement, “Windows 7″, should be ready in 2010. They began work in January 2007, when vista officially flopped.

Are you kidding me? Why does it take 4 years to work on yet another release? I understand new features take time. This may be the apple fan boy in me, okay it IS, but apple rocks out a new cool OS every 2 years or so. And they are a lot cheaper.

Maybe this Windows 7 will actually worth while, and maybe revolutionary? I’m not holding my breath.

SEO tip, awesome websites, and factor 1

Factor 1,Marketing,Research — Posted by: matt adams on March 13, 2008 at 8:15 am

So I just needed to say, that if you search for “awesome websites” on google. Factor 1 is number 16. I’m pretty stoked about that. I have been seeing traffic come in from it already.

The SEO behind it.
What i did:
1. Changed my site title to “Factor 1 Creates awesome websites, brands and marketing materials”
2. I started titling all incoming links “awesome websites” or “Awesome church websites”, or something along those lines. I keep them somewhat random.

Thats it. Thats all I did. I was not ranked at all for this just 2 or 3 weeks ago.

Your website's home page is lame

Marketing,Research — Posted by: matt adams on March 4, 2008 at 9:18 pm

In my daily conversations with client, potential clients and other designers, I am often presented with questions on how to make things stand out on the home page. Questions like “I want to add a new service, how do I make it important” or “we have a 65% bounce rate on the home page, how do we keep people on the site”. These are great questions, and deserve an answer.

Do you recall the “Choose your own Adventure” books? You know, you read a few pages, then make a descion on the plot line as what to do next, by flipping to a certain page.

Why not follow this method when planning out your site? Sure we need to have a few menu items, for some key points. Wouldn’t it be a great idea to direct users through the site with a ‘Choose your own adventure’ mind set?

So next time you are working on your site, maybe think through some ‘Next Steps’ links to cross direct traffic on your own site. If done well, I think you will find your site visitors ‘visit time’ increase, and you may see a few more hits on pages that need it.
