Windows XP lives on through licensing loopholes

I guess this should force microsoft to build a better system, and fast. If history is any indication, it could be another 3 – 4 years for another microsoft OS attempt. Apple will have had 4 or 5 OS releases since the original XP, and Linux will have had time to convince the mainstream that Ubuntu is a great Windows alternative.

So I just finished watching NBC Nightly News. This was the best Nightly News ever for 2 reasons.
Pine Ridge Church, and Hoops of Hope.

Both are great clients of ours, and it was so awesome to see both Tadd Grandstaff and Austin Gutwein with their respective methods of outreach on such a national scale.

If you didn’t see it, you missed a great show.

Tadd Grandstaff (who is the lead pastor of Pine Ridge Church) was interviewed by Tom Brokaw on the topic of young evangelical pastors in the south, regarding politics, and key issues that divide many political groups and religious organizations.

Austin Gutwein (founder of Hoops of Hope, age 13) was in Africa, where he raised enough money to build a high school for 1000 students. Austin is also planning on raising enough money to build a hospital next year. Amazing.

great job to both of you guys!

So who is going to be on national television next?

So today I came across a site that fails to back up its own claims on their own work. The site in question offers a $500 service to code your web site design into a “Valid CSS code & Cross Browser Compatible” template.

What I find awesome, is that they claim all their sites will be 100% compatible in Internet Explorer 6, 7 Fire Fox (mac & PC) and Safari. Here comes the awesome part, Their own site is not cross browser compatible, a key ingredient to their service, and they cant meet it on their own site. See the image below.

Moral of the story. If you provide a service or product, with key features, you had better make sure everything is true, and you can back up your claims.

So today I hear about Gateways amazing new computer, called “ONE”. It is an all in one computer with built in LCD, CPU, etc. All in a sleek package.

Unfortunately for Gateway, Apple has had this model for 25+ years. Originally a Macintosh, but more recently (in the last 12 years or so) an iMac.

Lets peek at the most recent iMac.

Notice any similarities?

So i guess Gateway assumed since its market share is always in risk of slipping, they would copy the leader of creativity in the computer industry.

Gateway did do a good job with the design. It does look good, even if it is a knock off. Too bad it runs windows though.

See it here: http://www.gateway.com/programs/one/index.php?rdr=v1266

I have been waiting to see which car company would launch the first real green car campaign. Looks like VW has it. http://www.vw.com/vwhype/carbonneutral/en/us/?adID=email:cnp01

Sure many companies are now making fuel efficient cars a regular part of their line up. VW’s have been Low emissions and high mpg for years. I remember when the new super beetle came out in the late 90′s with 60 mpg engines. Amazing.

VW has upped the bar for everyone else 2 fold.
1. They are educating their drivers about carbon offset
2. They are taking charge and footing the carbon offset bill for 1 year on each car they sell from now till the end of the year.

Is carbon offset the solution to global warming, probably not, but it is a great step forward, from a car company already dedicated to efficient vehicles.

Very Cool Stuff. I think this will be a great thing for VW, the industry, and VW’s customer base (old and new)

the end.

So today I heard a radio advertisement from pep boys. The ad read: “For a limited time, come in to Pep boys for a free ‘Check Engine Light’ diagnostic with any paid repair service”.

So lets step back. Checker and Auto zone (Pep boys main competition) do this service for free. The dealership does this for free. Wouldn’t it be wise to also do this for free? With the hope that said customer is there, in your parking lot, talking to a service tech, and would be more than likely to purchase needed items for the repair, or elect pep boys to preform the repair?

While I understand pep boys not wanting to give the farm away, i dont see how charging for such an easy service that will lead to more sales is the best way to go about things.
